The cranes are back

The cranes are now returning from their winter resorts in South-Western Europe to their breeding mires in the North. I made this painting from sketches that I made in Sörmland last year.

I hear them every day and sometime see them. They dwell in the marshes on the other side of my garden.

The guy who tattooed my back and shoulders some fifteen years ago showed me a scetch of the tattoo of his dreams: A full size dancing crane, which should start down on the legs and work its way past the butt and back. The head and beak of the crane should be tattoed at the neck and back of the head. The wings should spread out across the shoulders and the tip of the wings should end at the nipples....

That's really something for a birdwatcher! He should advertize in an ornithological magazine such as Vår Fågelvärld!
