Harvesting palm leaves

A couple of weeks ago Bene and I went to the corner café to discuss the outlines of his next book. This job is very exciting because I am working in a completely different way than I am used to – pinpointing the text highlights with brisk, immediate, and precise watercolor paintings. This is Kumba’s friend Fofo harvesting palm leaves for a Christmas hut.

For me, the PalmTrees are very difficult to draw, with a lot of leaves, shadows and lights. Your watercolor are superb! All the best

Tank you, José! It is all the more difficult because the only palm trees in my area are the ones in the botanical garden greenhouse. I made a sketch there and used some photos from Crete to get the light and shadows right.
