Herring gulls

We went to Hallands Väderö in late August to visit the Sjös, who were renting an old lighthouse-keeper’s house there. We had a couple of wonderful days with hiking, seal-watching, and eating. These are two of the Herring gulls that breed on the island.

I love the warm contrast of the gulls against the hard terrain. You have a good eye that make the overall composition pleasing to the viewer.
You have a great weekend.

Thanks, everybody! Soft against hard, warm against cool, and highlights against shadows are exactly what triggered me in this scene and made me want to paint it.

You perfectly captured the play of light and shadows on the rocks and birds. I love these simple watercolors in detail but of great strength.

I can't say anything else! This is so lovely beautiful! Again a masterful simplicity! I will have a look at it regularly. Just to learn from it.
