Rough-legged Buzzard

I belong to the snow lovers. The light, the fresh air, and the birds it brings us from the north are wonderful elements for landscape painters. The problem is you can't use watercolors in temperatures below 0, so this was made with a photo reference. The bird is a Rough-legged Buzzard digesting a new-caught vole.

Hello Mans,
Beautiful watercolour.
Light is great. I also like snowy landscapes, though they are not usual where I live.

Cheers, Fran A.H. Alvarado

Thanks, everybody! I find myself painting more and more right into the sun and I am obsessed with the possibilities it gives you for playing with the colors in a bold way. It also presents immense difficulties like "How much can I exaggerate without loosing control?". Experimenting like this takes a lot of failures, which only makes it all the more rewarding to actually finish a satisfying painting. I am happy about this one, as about your comments!
