Afternoon song

The Wheatear is beautifully designed and likes to show up in front of the painter - or rather in front of other Wheatears. I found this one at Kullen, where I had a workshop two weeks ago.

Thanks a lot, dear collegues! I love to challange tricky lighting conditions. What attracted me was the warm illumination of reflected sunlight from below, counterchanged against the blue shadows on the surfaces facing the sky and the deeper shadows of the cracks and recesses. And the whitish and quite uniform highlight lines of pure paper emphasize this flora of different shadings by being totally different. That's how I thought of it when I painted it anyway.

A blog is a wonderful place to discuss things like this but I wish we could all come together one day and meet in real life.
